The adaptive high beams operate intelligently by detecting road users such as drivers and cyclists to adjust the beams and reduce glare. Furthermore the release notes mention that the high beams will be frequently active to improve visibility at night while considering factors.

Tesla drivers can easily enable this new headlight feature through the Lights menu, under Adaptive High Beams settings. Moreover, owners will be able to set a one-time charge limit that is above the one set for everyday driving. Instead of remembering to revert to a lower limit afterward, the vehicle will revert automatically after the initial full charge.

The adaptive headlights feature was initially introduced with the upgraded Model 3 in Europe and other markets last year, subsequently extending to North America in January.
